Ärzteball - January 2006
Hofburg Palace, Vienna
We have returned from a most wonderful weekend in Vienna. We invited our close family to come celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We were a party of eleven across three generations, ranging in age from 16 to 85.
We arrived on Friday and stayed at the Hotel Sacher until Sunday afternoon. We went to the Elmeyer Dancing School for an hour lesson on both Friday and Saturday. We had such fun. Friday evening we had a celebration dinner at the Three Hussars restaurant. Excellent.
The ball on Saturday was absolutely wonderful. We never even saw the opening cotillion or the midnight display, but we waltzed and waltzed and danced the polka, the gallop, tango, rumba, cha cha, jive, quickstep and samba. When it was most crowded it just became an inviting challenge to be able to move forward while waltzing. The children liked the public cotillion the best-they laughed and laughed. We stayed until about 4:30.
We walked back to the hotel to find a samavar of hot water to make tea and orange tea cake in the hotel lobby to cap off the evening. We were up two and a half hours later to get in breakfast before we were back to the palace to hear the Vienna Boys Choir sing in the morning service.
We are already making plans to return.
